Background
Aparajita Das is a historian of the Indian Ocean World and South Asia. She specializes in the environmental and material history of commodity circulation in the early modern period. Through her research, she explores the entanglements of labor and ecological extractions in moments of heightened global connections. Her first book project is dedicated to tracking the movement of agricultural products from the Columbian Exchange in the 17th-century Indian Ocean World.
Das is involved in public history projects, including public lectures, heritage walk design, and exhibition curation in India and the U.S.
